The sign for the market

Shepherd Market in Mayfair is one of those little, tucked away gems which more Londoners should know about…though secretly I’m quite glad they don’t.  More or less on the site of the original May Fair which gave the district its name, it is a little warren of alleyways cutting across each other, dimly illuminated by the light piercing in between the closely packed buildings, or by the flickering glow of the street lamps.  There are several restaurants in the area, and so the scents of cooking mingle with the atmosphere of the place, making you want to linger and explore.
