Wood for the trees

There’s something endlessly intriguing, I find, about paths winding through woodland.  Perhaps it is the way the light breaks softly through the canopy of branches, or the way in which the leaf-litter strewn underfoot and the web of twigs overhead seem to encapsulate you in tree-ness!  Or perhaps it is just that woodland pathways always remind me of Robert Frost’s splendid and much misunderstood poem “The Road Not Taken“.

Today’s picture was taken in Broxbourne Woods in Hertfordshire.
