It’s hardly a London secret as it is known so well, but Kew Gardens is nonetheless one of my favourite spots in the city. There are so many different views and landscapes within it, and the size of the gardens is so vast that even on a busy day you can get a feeling of peace and seclusion.
The glasshouses tend to be a focal point of course, and the interior can be fairly busy at times; but the exterior views are equally impressive. The rigid form of the frames contrast with the softer organic shapes inside and outside the buildings, and on a fresh sunny day they make a crisp outline against the vivid blue sky behind.
