Rising from the rubble…?

Some friends of ours recently came to visit us in London from out of town, and were amazed by the number of cranes they could see from our apartment window.  They started counting them, but gave up when they hit around 35!

There is always building and development work going on in London, and inhabitants seem to have a mixed relationship with it.  On the one hand it is disruptive, and sometimes destructive of heritage which we would rather see preserved; on the other hand, it is the sign of a living, breathing and developing city.

Whatever my views about each individual building project, I remain fascinated by the contrast of old and new in my city, something which I often highlight on my guided photo walks of London.  Today’s picture shows just one example of those contrasts.

If you would be interested in exploring London with your camera, then please do contact me about coming on a photo walk.  Or if you have friends who are visiting London in the new year, then why not buy them a photo walk voucher…they make great Christmas presents!
