I actually can’t remember exactly what today’s image was of – which I suppose is partly the point! It was on a photoshoot for a client a few years ago, and obviously the shape of this piece of design (whatever it is) drew my attention. I set a shallow depth of field to blur the background, went in close, and took the shot.
Personally, I find it quite a restful image to look at, in large part because the closeness of the object and the background blur make it almost abstract. All you are left with is the repeating spiralling pattern, fading into an uncertain haze, with only the barest hint of any background context.
