A path of light

In contrast to the last posting, there’s not much colour to be seen today; in fact, the image almost appears monochrome, apart from a fringe of green.  It’s another photograph from my trip to Paris in the spring, taken in a small garden just behind the huge cathedral of Notre Dame.

I liked the way in which the image is framed by the trees and the deep shadows they cast; only a single path of light, in sharp contrast with the surrounding darkness, draws our eye into the picture.  I’m intrigued by the single figure picked out in silhouette in the middle distance, caught in snapshot as they pass through the shaft of sunlight.
