I think today’s post is one of those you will either love, or hate. There’s not much to it, just a simple observation of a Paris street corner when I was visiting the Place de la Bastille back in May.
I think it was the Paris street sign which first caught my eye – that distinctive design which immediately places you in the French capital, with its bold colours against the sand-coloured stone beneath. I had no idea at the time what the “Vote Darkside” poster was all about, but I liked the contrast with the formality of the official street name; and the air of protest seems somehow appropriate for Place de la Bastille, and its associations with the French Revolution. Maybe I’m over-analysing!
I subsequently discovered that “Vote Darkside” is a strand of Parisian street art – more examples are on Pinterest.
