Paris shutters

Back in April, I was travelling in France and Belgium leading a battlefield tour as part of my WW1 centenary project (The Remembrance Image Project).  At the end of the tour, we spent a few days relaxing in Paris, a city which I’ve not had the opportunity to visit for many years.

Having been a tourist in Paris before, though, meant that I was able to set to one side many of the usual tourist hotspots, and just wander the streets absorbing the atmosphere.  We made a fairly early start one morning and went to visit a street market.  On the way there, this array of window shutters caught my eye, some flung back as if taking in the morning light, others still firmly shut and sleepy from the night before.
